First of all, I am not affiliated with WLD in any way, I am just a partner like you, I am not trying to defend them but just giving you my personal opinion. I think the 50% rev share is sensible, I probably think so because I used to run my own dating site with my own database support etc. I particularly hate the customer support aspect.... member can be silly an childish and extremely irritating.... I want glad WLD took all that headache off me and they are doing it perhaps more professionally than I used to do it, they also have to pay for the server and all the technology that actually powers the site and of course the staff of course I will like to get more that 50% rev share but think for 50% cut doing all the donkey work, its sounds fair.
Another reason I think the 50/50 is fair is the fact that they pay partners within 14 days, when I used to collect payment directly myself using a 3rd party payment processing company, they actually keep my money for 30 days before its paid to me.
I am concerned about the database ownership as well but like Ross Williams said above, in some cases the share the DB with you, perhaps you need to speak to your account manager.

You are moving in the right direction with your investment in SEO, I think PPC prices is crazy, PPC account for 5% of my marketing spend, their are much more cost effective ways of driving traffic to your site than PPC (AdWords are particularly extremely expensive).

Chris Blagden :

I have been running with WLD about 6mths and all my traffic is ppc driven, having not worked in the dating sector before it was a nice change and something else to run along side my core business. I have one adult site and a new general over 50’s site in the pipe.

I think I have found it harder than most and the base revshare is a little dissapointing and it seems hard to get off 50% regardless of whether you earn £30 a month or £3000. I have started to invest in SEO also to boost the low margins over time but I hoped for faster growth which would have been more motivating. That said I am not going to quit as I still believe it will happen for me and I’d like to build a business around WLD.

Ownership of data is a concern and I didn’t find out enough about that when I started but I will do now. I agree with the point about url masking and also I am concerned about Adwords looking like its too saturated with WLD template sites, greater customisation will help fix that as the impression of a unique offering is important.

The partner management is first class and not having to bother about all the irksome customer service and database management is a real plus. Payments are always prompt and the twice monthly is a lesson to others in how to play.

All four of my sites require very little management by myself. I can trust the team at WLD to keep the database live, process the payments, and send me my revenue earned every two weeks.

I like this two aspect of their services too, earning credited into you account every two weeks and the fact that the do all the support and the back of the house job leaving you to concentrate on marketing. Fantastic model in my opinion.

I've been using WhiteLabelDating.com for just over six months now. As someone with absolutely no previous experience in this market, I found the whole process of becoming a partner and setting up an online dating business a real breeze – and I put a lot of this down to the support and helpful advice my WLD account manager gives me.

I'm now running four different sites with WLD in different markets, with my senior dating site www.funatfifty.co.uk, performing really well! What's especially creditable to the guys at WLD is that once the sites are set up, and the marketing is in place, all four of my sites require very little management by myself. I can trust the team at WLD to keep the database live, process the payments, and send me my revenue earned every two weeks.

Great to read this fine feedback, always nice to hear what partners think.

A couple of things which may interest you:

1. URL Masking will soon be available - initially to select partners and we'll gradually roll out, you'll hear more about this in June.
2. SEO is also on the way - similar timeframe which will allow you to optimise much more.
3. Yes we pay less but partners see more money in their pocket as WLD should convert much better (so it's a smaller percentage of a much larger pie = still more money to you!) :)
4. We can do shared database ownership in some situations - for larger partners we can do this, talk to your account manager. We can also send newsletters to your customers on your behalf (again, chat to account manager).

Really pleased to hear your thoughts on WLD and what you want - it's great to see that we're focussing in the areas that our partners want us to, expect an even better next 4 months!!

Best wishes,
